Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) has unveiled plans to build 116 new homes in the west of the city. Government Opportunities

The new homes will be built on the site of the two high-rise blocks at 10 and 20 Kingsway Court, Scotstoun – which are currently being demolished.

The demolition – which started last month with a high-reach machine – is expected to be complete by the end of the year.

Work on the new homes should start early next year, and they are expected to be complete by the end of 2015.

The £10.8m development in Kingsway Court will be a mix of houses and flats, including seven flats built to wheelchair standard.

The new homes will help GHA with the re-housing of tenants whose homes are being demolished as part of the regeneration of the city.

David Fletcher, Regeneration Director for Wheatley Group, GHA’s parent company, said:

“We want to build the kind of homes that people want to live in and create a real and lasting sense of community.

“It’s an exciting time for Scotstoun and these modern, energy-efficient homes will make an important contribution to the regeneration of the area.”
